Programme

For the third year in a row, the Munich Biomarker Conference brings together the biotech and pharma industry with scientists and physicians to discuss the most recent trends of biomarker research. The conference covers the whole life cycle of a biomarker and discusses how personalized medicine will change our healthcare system.

In addition to the expert lectures, a poster session and an exhibition will complete the programme. A one-2-one biomarker partnering will support translation of excellent biomarker research into commercial utilization. In the evening of day 1, a festive dinner will give the ideal framework for networking.

Presenting
Speaking proposals are currently being accepted until July 8th.
Scientists from research institutions and the industry are encouraged to share their expertise in:

  • Latest Technologies for Biomarker Discovery
  • Biomarker Identification and Validation
  • Translation of Biomarker Research into Clinical Practice
  • Design of Clinical Studies with Biomarkers
  • Regulatory and Reimbursement Strategies

Abstract Submission Form
Please fill in the form and send it to graebsch@bio-m.org

To ensure the highest quality of the conference programme, all submissions will be reviewed by the conference’s scientific board. Chosen speakers will receive a free conference ticket. A limited number of submissions will be selected for the poster presentation.

The International Conference on Social Robotics brings researchers and practitioners together to report and discuss the latest progress in the field of social robotics. The ICSR conferences focus on the interaction between humans and robots and the integration of robots into our society. The theme of the 2013 conference is "Companionship".

Download Call for Papers here.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
> Interaction and collaboration among robots, humans, and environments
> Robots to assist the elderly and persons with disabilities
> Socially assistive robots to improve quality of life
> Affective and cognitive sciences for socially interactive robots
> Personal robots for the home
> Social acceptance and impact in the society
> Robot ethics in human society
> Context awareness, expectation, and intention understanding
> Control architectures for social robotics
> Socially appealing design methodologies
> Safety in robots working in human spaces
> Human augmentation, rehabilitation, and medical robots
> Robot applications in education, entertainment, and gaming

Submission of papers:
Authors are invited to submit the complete manuscripts in PDF format. Submissions should be as per the LaTex or Word templates provided by Springer. The Third Joint IEEE International Conference on Development and Learning
and on Epigenetic Robotics
Osaka City Central Public Hall, Osaka, Japan
August 18-22, 2013

Conference description
The past decade has seen the emergence of a new scientific field that studies how intelligent biological and artificial systems develop sensorimotor, cognitive and social abilities, over extended periods of time, through dynamic interactions with their physical and social environments. This field lies at the intersection of a number of scientific and engineering disciplines including Neuroscience, Developmental Psychology, Developmental Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Computational Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Robotics. Various terms have been associated with this new field such as Autonomous Mental Development, Epigenetic Robotics, Developmental Robotics, etc., and several scientific meetings have been established. The two most prominent conference series of this field, the International Conference on Development and Learning (ICDL) and the International Conference on Epigenetic Robotics (EpiRob), are now joining forces and invite submissions for a joint meeting in 2013, to explore and extend the interdisciplinary boundaries of this field.

Call for Submissions
We invite submissions for this exciting window into the future of developmental sciences. Submissions which establish novel links between brain, behavior and computation are particularly encouraged.

Topics of interest include - but are not limited to:

  • Development of perceptual, motor, cognitive, emotional, social, and communication skills such as language and speech in biological systems and robots
  • General principles of development and learning
  • Neural and behavioral plasticity
  • Grounding of knowledge and development of representations
  • Biologically inspired architectures for cognitive development
  • Models of emotionally driven behavior
  • Mechanisms of intrinsic motivation, exploration, and play
  • Embodied cognition: foundations and applications
  • Social development in humans and robots
  • Use of robots in applied settings such as autism therapy
  • Epistemological approaches to Epigenetic / Developmental Robotics

Submissions will be accepted in two categories:
Full six-page papers: Manuscripts accepted will be included in the conference proceedings published by IEEE publication. Accepted long papers submission will be selected for either an oral presentations or a featured poster presentation at the conference.

Two-page poster abstracts: For this format, it is the aim to encourage late-breaking results or for work that is not sufficiently mature for a full paper. Accepted abstracts will be presented during the poster sessions.

Manuscripts should be submitted through the online conference management system, available at the conference website www.icdl-epirob.org. For the paper preparation, follow the instructions at the conference website.

Call for Tutorials
We invite experts in different areas to organize a tutorial, which will be held on the first day of the conference. Participants in tutorials are asked to register for the main conference as well.

Tutorials are meant to provide insights into specific topics as well as overviews that will inform the interdisciplinary audience about the state-of-the-art in child development, neuroscience, robotics, or any of the other disciplines represented at the conference.

Submissions (max. two pages) should be sent no later than March 10, 2013
to Giorgio Metta (giorgio.metta(at)iit.it) including:

* Title of tutorial;

* Tutorial speaker(s), including short CVs;

* Concept of the tutorial; target audience or prerequisites.

All proposals submitted will be subjected to a review process.

Call for Special Sessions
A special session will be an opportunity to present a topic cumulatively. It is suggested that a special session includes three oral presentations to allow for sufficient presentation and discussion time. A discussant (also from other discipline) may be added to the special session.

Special session organizers are invited to submit:

* Title of special session;

* A summary (250 words) describing the topic, purpose and target audience of the session;

* Abstracts of papers (each 250 words) that will constitute the group of presentations.

Submissions should be sent no later than March 10, 2013 to Giorgio Metta (giorgio.metta(at)iit.it). All proposals submitted will be subjected to a review process.
