Project Details

Project:
Magnetic resonance with magnetic nanoparticles

Interdisciplinary Project Group:

Supervisors:
Prof. Dr. Axel Haase
Prof. Dr. Steffen Glaser

Start of PhD-work at GSISH:
November 2010

Project Description:
Magnetic nanoparticles are used in different fields of research. In the lab among other aspects they can be used as carrier systems for DNA or Proteins and are directed via external magnetic fields to their target location. One clinical application is their usage in hyperthermia for the therapy of specific types of cancer. In this project magnetic nanoparticles will be used in combination with NMR and MRI to detect molecular and cellular interactions in biological media.
