Petra has a professional background in natural sciences as she performed her PhD on the edge between chemistry and medicine at TUM. Working as a guest scientist at the Center for Biomaterials at Rutgers University/USA, she is not only familiar with the challenges in interdisciplinary research but also in an international context and therefore can cope with challenges in this field. Further Petra was involved in writing the TUM proposal for the first round of the excellence initiative in 2005/2006. While her activity at the student`s representative she obtained insights in the structure of the university that will help her in developing the Graduate School of Information Science in Health.
